Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Medway are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, associated charges, and your responsibilities for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Medway, you must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions varying by vehicle type. A valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Medway office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is in British Pounds (£) and includes applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. You are expected to return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure that the fuel level matches the amount at collection; refueling fees will apply if the tank is below this level. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts specified in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It is important to review these options carefully. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or missed appointments could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Use
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is forbidden. Adhere to passenger and weight limits, and avoid driving outside designated geographical areas without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Medway is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
